Speak the truth and speak it ever
Cost it what it will
He who hides the wrong he did
Does the wrong thing still
****
Kind words are little sunbeams
That sparkle as they fall
And loving smiles are sunbeams
A light of joy to all
In sorrow’s eye they dry the tear
And bring the fainting heart good cheer
****
Kind hearts are the gardens
Kind thoughts are the roots
Kind words are the blossoms
Kind deeds are the fruits
****
He who ruleth well his heart
And keeps his temper down
Acts a better wiser part
Than he who takes a town
****
Trip lightly over trouble
Trip lightly over wrong
We only make them double
By dwelling on them long
Trip light over sorrow
Though this day may be dark
The sun will shine tomorrow
And gaily sing the lark
****
The heights of great men reached and kept
Were not attained by sudden flight
But they while their companions slept
Were toiling upward in the night
****
Be kind and be gentle to those who are old
For kindness is better than silver and gold
Silver and gold will vanish away
But a good education will never decay
****
Bits of paper bits of paper lying on the floor
Make the place untidy
Pick them up pick them up
****
Good better best
Never let it rest
Till your good be better
And your better best
****
Little fingers were not made to pinch and tear
But to move in deeds of kindness
And to fold in thoughts of prayer
****

I totally forgot about memory gems...they were saying something all along...interesting!
ReplyDeleteMommy used to drum speak the truth and speak it ever into my head so that one will stay with me to the grave..but maybe our society would be better off if those were passed on to this generation...no doubt
ReplyDeleteLabour for learning before you grow old
ReplyDelete'cause learning is better than silver and gold
Silver and gold will vanish away
But a good education will never decay.
That's the version I learned in school.
Nice post anyway
The fisherman who draws his net too soon won't have any fish to sell the child who shuts his book too soon won't learn his lesson well.
ReplyDeleteThe wealth of wisdom gain throughout our life is greater than that of mere siliver and Gold.
ReplyDeleteWe benifited from these when we were in school.
